Accessible Nutrition for ADHD, Autism & Intellectual Disabilities

Supportive & Compassionate Nutrition Care

If you’re supporting a child, teen, or adult with ADHD, autism, intellectual disabilities, or, you, yourself are neurodivergent, you know that one-size-fits-all nutrition plans do not work.

And, frankly, they shouldn’t.  Similar to our brains, our bodies also possess a uniqueness, that needs to be accounted for when developing wellness plans.

From picky eating to chronic digestive issues, mood swings, or difficulty with mealtime routines—these challenges require more than just basic nutrition advice.  They deserve a personalized thoughtful approach.

This is where I come in.

As a licensed nutritionist, special education teacher, and board-certified behavior analyst, I offer a compassionate, evidence-based, and individualized process to support the whole person—body and brain.

Holistic strategies to support attention, digestion, behavior, and emotional well-being—personalized for every brain and body.

At True Potential Nutrition, we support neurodivergent individuals and their families through compassionate care and functional nutrition.

The Core Tenants of Functional Nutrition for Neurodiversity

Digestive Health

Constipation, bloating, food intolerances, and microbiome imbalance are common in neurodivergent individuals, and should not be overlooked. Not only can they cause genuine discomfort, but they can negatively impact mood and behavior.  For these reasons, digestive health is often at the core of our work.

Nutrient Repletion & Food Variety

Addressing gaps in nutrients that directly influence brain health, such as zinc, magnesium, B vitamins, and omega-3s, is also integral to the work we do with our clients.  That said, we also know that incorporating a variety of foods can be a challenge, so we will work with you to develop a plan that helps to replete critical nutrients while maintaining awareness of sensory preferences and needs.

Mood & Brain Functioning

Mood swings, anxiety, irritability, and depression are common in neurodivergent individuals.  For these reasons, we will focus on
nutrients that support neurotransmitter balance as well as functional foods and lifestyle strategies that have been shown to help with mood and cognition.

Food Selectivity & Picky Eating

From white food only diets to texture aversions, we offer step-by-step support with visual tools and behavior strategies to help expand the diet to help you or your loved ones eat in a more balanced way.

Behavior-Informed Mealtime Strategies

Using an evidence-based behavior analytic lens, we offer gentle supports to help shape new habits and support successful mealtimes.

Communication & Collaboration

We recognize the importance of a team.  After all, we are all bringing a unique set of skills and knowledge to the table. For this reason, we offer care coordination with providers and caregivers throughout the nutrition support process.  Visual tools and simple strategies are also offered to make nutrition care accessible and meaningful.

2 Pathways: One Goal

It typically takes 3-6 months to make meaningful and sustainable changes to your health, which is why we offer a 3-month comprehensive package.  This allows us to take a deep dive into you (or your loved ones) health, both in session and outside of the session. That said, we recognize that not everyone is ready to commit to a package.  For this reason, we also offer individual sessions.  So, whether you’re ready for a deep dive into your health or simply need a clear next step, we offer two flexible pathways to work together.

At this current time, True Potential Nutrition is exclusively a cash-based service, as this grants us the time to work with each client in the capacity that we believe is necessary to provide the individualized and specialized attention each client deserves.

However, upon request, we do offer super bills, which can be submitted to insurance companies for reimbursement.

Additionally, HSA and FSA are accepted for most services.

*Please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed and is dependent upon each individual insurance company. So, please review your benefits with your insurance to learn if reimbursement is available to you.

Great question! First, book your free 15-minute discovery call to determine if you and Danielle are a good fit for one another. If you both are in agreement that you would like to move forward, Danielle will book your first appointment on the discovery call.

Absolutely. We provide personalized nutrition support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including ADHD and autism, who are 6 years old and older. Whether you’re navigating food selectivity, energy issues, gut challenges, or mood support, we will develop a plan that fits your unique biology, goals, and lifestyle while supporting independence and autonomy.

We believe that  communication should never a barrier to care. We use a variety of supportive tools, including visual aids, caregiver input, and AAC (augmentative and alternative communication).  This allows us to best understand needs and preferences and ensure each client’s voice is heard and honored in the process.

Caregiver involvement is thoughtfully personalized to each client’s needs. In many cases—especially with younger individuals or those needing an advanced level of support—caregivers play a vital role in the process. Collaborating with caregivers helps ensure that plans are practical, sustainable, and supportive for the whole family. It also allows us to better understand routines, preferences, and goals.

For older individuals or those working toward increasing independence, caregiver involvement may be minimal or gradually faded overtime. Ultimately, the level of involvement is guided by the client’s abilities, communication needs, and personal goals—always centering what best supports the client.
